Top 10 Best Running Backs in the NFL 2020 – #2 Saquon Barkley

#2 – Saquon Barkley

When I saw Saquon Barkley get injured in 2019, all I was thinking was it was a season ender. It looked really bad for Saquon who miraculously turned it into only a 3 game absence.

He had no right coming back from that ankle injury so soon and you really saw the effect. When he returned he didn’t completely fall off a cliff in terms of production, but it took awhile for him to return to his elite self we saw in his rookie season.

I view Saquon Barkley as the best pure runner in the NFL. He is the best combination of speed and physicality as one of the fastest players in the NFL who can also stiff arm you to the turf.

If you put him on a playoff team with a good offensive line he would be putting up record breaking numbers. But he’s not. He’s on the Giants. They aren’t horrible, but they don’t do him too many favors.

Top 10 Running Backs 2020 – #1 Christian McCaffrey

#1 – Christian McCaffrey

I’m going to seem like a hypocrite with this one. I just talked about how Saquon Barkley being on the Giants limits his upside, but I think the opposite for Christian McCaffrey.

McCaffrey is the best pass catching running back in the NFL and that is not up for debate. If he wasn’t a running back he would be a starting slot receiver and a damn good one at that. His speed & quickness shine in the open field and he plays on an offense that loves giving him the ball.

The Panthers will not be a good team next season and will be playing from just as much if not more than last season. Christian McCaffrey just broke his previous record for most receptions by a running back in a single season and it would not shock me at all if he broke that record once again. He is that good and the Panthers are that bad.

It was up for debate whether McCaffrey could handle being the workhorse and he answered that by handling 98.5% of offensive snaps. If you’re looking for the definition of an every down running back, that is it.

Christian McCaffrey just became the highest paid running back in the NFL and that is because he is the best running back in the NFL. There is no running back in NFL history as dominant of a pass catcher as Christian McCaffrey.
