NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #10 Jalen Brunson

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #10 Jalen Brunson

#10 – Jalen Brunson

What a mistake by the Dallas Mavericks. Just as Jalen Brunson was rising to stardom, they let him walk. Jalen Brunson has become one of the best scorers in the NBA and now the New York Knicks are legit contenders.

You could even argue he is the best player on the Knicks right now over Julius Randle. He brings an old school approach of power and finesse at the point guard position that is lacking for many players.

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #9 De'aaron Fox

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #9 De’aaron Fox

#9 – De’Aaron Fox

The Kings are finally turning around and De’Aaron Fox is at the forefront of this transformation. This season he averaged his highest points per game with 25.0 and highest field goal percentage with .512. Hero ball is no more on this team as they are now one of the league leaders in assist percentage.

What makes him so great is his speed. He is one of the fastest players in the NBA today and knows how to push the pace at the right times. Teams have to account for that leaving himself and his teammates with efficient scoring opportunities.

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #8 Trae Young

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #8 Trae Young

#8 – Trae Young

I feel bad for Trae Young. He is one of the most skilled players in the NBA and an absolute machine offensively. But the Hawks are still bad. Really, really bad. They went out and payed up for Dejounte Murray, but his chemistry and fit with Trae Young is questionable at best.

The Hawks had too much of a hero ball approach which leaves Trae Young as a volume shooter. His efficiency reflects that. He didn’t have much help and had to be the guy who is creating his own shots. That is a recipe for mediocracy and the Hawks record reflects that.

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #7 James Harden

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #7 James Harden

#7 – James Harden

James Harden continues to be one of the most polarizing players in the NBA. It’s clear he is past his prime, but I still believe he is one of the best point guards in the NBA today. It may be a down year by his standards, but his elite offensive skill set is still on display.

While the 76ers fell short in the playoffs, they proved to be legitimate contenders. James Harden pairs well with Joel Embiid and taking a pay cut last season shows just how badly he wants to win an NBA Championship.

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #6 Tyrese Haliburton

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #6 Tyrese Haliburton

#6 – Tyrese Haliburton

I’m here to declare Tyrese Haliburton as one of the most underrated players in the NBA today. I’m not sure why there aren’t more people who don’t recognize him as one of the best point guards in the NBA today. He is a well-rounded scorer and his 10.4 assists per game on a bad team show just he good he is at distributing the rock.

Just because his team struggled, doesn’t discount his greatness. The Pacers are a pedestrian dynasty that Haliburton is turning around with his diverse skillset. Expect big things going forward.

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #5 Ja Morant

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #5 Ja Morant

#5 – Ja Morant

With these NBA rankings, I put off the court antics aside. When it comes to Ja Morant, he has shown his immaturity off the court, but on the court he is a physical freak with potential to become the best point guard in the NBA.

Hopefully he learns his lesson and cleans up his act because of that potential. The Grizzlies are a very good team that can win without him, but with him I believe they can compete for a championship.

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #4 Stephen Curry

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #4 Stephen Curry

#4 – Stephen Curry

Curry fans unite. Grab a brick and throw it through my window. This ranking has to be disrespect right?

But really, hear me out. There is no doubt that Stephen Curry is one of the best point guards ever. He transformed the game of basketball with his shooting ability and even at 35 years old is dominating offensively.

But that’s just it. He is 35 years old and it’s clear his best days are behind him. He is still elite, but is not the best point guard in the NBA like he once was and will not be that for the rest of his career.

I truly believe, the next three players on this list are better today, even if the team success doesn’t reflect that.

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #3 Damian Lillard

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #3 Damian Lillard

#3 – Damian Lillard

The Trailblazers may suck, but Damian Lillard is one of the best players in the NBA. If there is seconds left on the clock, you know what time it is. It’s Dame Time and his elite shooting and clutchness is put on display.

This man has been absolutely carrying this pedestrian franchise. He is brilliant on the offensive end and shows no signs of slowing down.

While I respect players for sticking with the franchise they were drafted to, enough is enough. Put Damian Lillard on a competing team and watch him flourish.

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #2 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #2 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

#2 – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Similar to Damian Lillard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is on a horrible team, but finds ways to dominate. 31.4 points per game and averaging over 50% from the field is absolutely insane. The fact that the Thunder were only able to win 40 games with his performances is equally as insane.

This team has a lot of young talent and Shai is the best of them all. He is an all-around star with his advanced metrics jumping off the page. Unlike Damian Lillard, I don’t think he needs to leave OKC to compete. With all this young talent stockpiled on the roster, I consider one of the best teams in the NBA going into next season and a darkhorse to win the title.

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #1 Luka Doncic

NBA Top 10 Best Point Guards in the NBA Today 2023 NBA Rankings #1 Luka Doncic

#1 – Luka Doncic

At this point, I believe Luka Doncic is not only the best point guard in the NBA but the best guard period. He is an anomaly offensively. This isn’t someone who is a freak athletically, but instead a technician. The European roots clearly payed off with Doncic as his finesse and footwork are off the charts.

He was on pace to win the MVP award this season before getting injured. Don’t get it twisted, he will win an MVP in the next 5 years.

I truly believe that when he retires he will be among the best point guards in NBA history. He will continue to climb up the ranks and turn whatever team he is apart of into contenders.
